Model: HO gauge AC. Electric locomotive 1116 181 of the Austrian Federal Railways. Current operating condition with black roof hood in Cityjet design. Prototype: The ÖBB started an upgrade program for the renewal of the double-decker trains (DOSTO) in 2019. This means that around 100 cars will be optimized to modern Cityjet standards by 2023. The modernization includes, among other things, on-board WLAN, new seat covers, multi-purpose areas in each intermediate car with more space for bicycles, baby carriages and luggage, as well as newly furnished quiet zones. In May 2022, halfway through the ongoing DOSTO upgrade program, electric locomotive 1116 181 was painted in the Cityjet design. With this, ÖBB is setting an important example for attractive offers in public transport and especially local commuter transport in Lower Austria.
