Model: HO gauge. The specially constructed, very elaborate and finely printed trailer with its appealing animal motifs from Circus Roncalli is a feast for the eyes.
Finished model made of plastic, painted and printed.
Role model: The German company, which was first founded in Vienna in 1975 by the two Austrians Bernhard Paul and André Heller (with its headquarters and winter quarters in Cologne), was first presented as „Circus Roncalli“ under the program title „The greatest poetry in the universe – circus as a total work of art“ on October 8th of the same year as part of the „Styrian Autumn“ festival. The name is based on the title of Peter Hajek’s screenplay „Sarah Roncalli, Daughter of the Moon“ and on Pope John XXIII, whose real name was Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli and who remained popular long after his death. The first tour started on May 18th, 1976 with the world premiere on the Hofgartenwiese in Bonn. Unfortunately, this also ended very soon afterwards, on August 16th in Munich, as the two founders Paul and Heller became entangled in a long-running dispute over rights and concepts. This led to a new foundation under Bernhard Paul, who helped the circus to new fame with a premiere on June 4th, 1980 in Cologne. The figurehead was the legendary clown Pic with his spectacular soap bubble attraction, which quickly made him a crowd favorite. Since the new foundation, the popular circus has also been touring at home and abroad with its unusual program. In the winter quarters in Cologne, in whose large halls wagons are renovated, costumes made and the equipment from the historic fair is stored, more than 100 circus wagons can be admired in the Roncalli fleet.
