Driven by a high-performance motor. Decoder with USP and energy storage as well as numerous functions and sound already integrated. The lamps are equipped with maintenance-free LEDs. In digital mode, the front and rear headlights can be switched on and off separately, and the brightness can be adjusted separately from other lighting. The driver’s cab lighting can be switched separately from the headlight. The shunting gear reduces the speed of the locomotive by about half, so shunting movements can be carried out particularly sensitively; shunting light means that both the front and rear (white) lamps are switched on regardless of the direction of travel. The prototypical pantographs can be controlled individually in digital mode, and in analog mode the rear pantograph in the direction of travel is always raised automatically. The height of the pantograph can be set digitally, so you can ensure that the contact strip is just below the model overhead line. Chassis made of metal, mixed metal/plastic construction. Wheel flange height less than 1.2 mm.
Prototype: The E 44 was built 187 times since 1932 and was not decommissioned in the Federal Republic until 1984. The locomotives ran in the GDR until 1991. The locomotives, equipped with traction drive, were the first series locomotives to have bogies without running axles and proved to be very reliable.
