Model: OO gauge DC. BR’s four-car Class 422/7 EMU 2703 is an electric multiple unit that runs on electrified lines in southern England. It belongs to Class 422, which is also known as 4-TEP (4 Trailer Electric Pneumatic). The Class 422/7 EMU was modernised in the 1980s, with the windows, interior fittings, lighting and couplings being renewed. There are NEM coupling pockets at the ends of the train, which allow the train to be coupled with other units of the same standard. Integral current-carrying couplings based on close coupler mechanisms are fitted between the vehicles. These enable better power transmission and closer train formation. The Class 422/7 EMU is equipped with interior lighting that allows miniature passengers to spend a pleasant time in the train. The train also has a head signal that changes depending on the direction of travel.
