Model: HO gauge AC. Car set with four centre cars for the German Federal Railroad class 602 gas turbine multiple unit. Supplementary set consisting of two compartment cars, a dining car, and a kitchen car. Prototype: The lack of performance of the diesel-powered VT 11.5 (class 601) led to the conversion of four power cars to gas turbine drive in 1971, whose most striking feature was now the large air inlets in front of the driver’s cab, which supplied the turbine with air. Due to defects, the operation of these trains became increasingly uneconomical, which is why the multiple units running under the designation BR 602 were taken out of service by the DB in 1978 and 1979. Only the power car 602 003 has been preserved for museum purposes; today it can be found in the DB Museum in Nuremberg.
